Clinical Hepatology Faculty Position at the VA San Diego Healthcare System and University of California, San Diego

The Medicine Service at the VA San Diego Healthcare System is seeking to recruit a hepatologist with a focus to provide excellent clinical care to patients with liver disease, including hepatocellular carcinoma and decompensated cirrhosis. Key duties will include inpatient and outpatient consultations, clinical teaching of fellows in gastroenterology, and performance of liver biopsies, as well as upper and lower endoscopic procedures. Interest in conduct of clinical research is a plus but not required. San Diego VA GI Section staff all have joint academic appointments at UC San Diego commensurate with prior rank and experience. Clinical opportunities at UC San Diego including liver transplant related activities can be considered as part of recruitment. Teaching opportunities may be extended to include residents in internal medicine and medical students. The candidate will enjoy an ideal balance between patient care, teaching, and opportunities to participate in cutting edge research. Current board certification in gastroenterology is required.
