Preparing for a Career Break

The Neuroradiology Division of the Department of Radiology in the College of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Little Rock, AR is seeking an ABR Certified/Eligible radiologist for a full-time neuroradiology faculty position.

We provide subspecialized expertise for a wide breadth of neuropathology with studies provided by the varied subspecialists in neurosurgery, neurology, otolaryngology and neuroopthalmology.  In addition, we have an active emergency room with significant number of studies from the only Level I trauma center in state.  The radiology department provides 24-hour coverage in all modalities including CT and MR.  Our service is involved in an active university sponsored stroke program, in a comprehensive neuro-oncology center, and a long recognized world renowned myeloma institute.

UAMS is a 450 bed tertiary care center and is equipped with 5 CT and 7 MRI scanners (two 3T and 5 1.5T). We provide advanced neuroimaging for comprehensive evaluation of brain tumors (MR perfusion/tractography and fMRI).  In addition, routine assessment with 3D volumetric studies are available and we routinely perform advanced neurography of the brachial and lumbar plexus with STIR and DWIBS.    We provide comprehensive total body evaluation of myeloma patients with CT, MRI, total body PET and total body DWIBS.
We currently have four full time faculty in addition to a part time faculty with pediatric neuroradiology interest.  This will be a sixth full time faculty position.  The ideal candidate should be teamwork oriented with a mindset for service line delivery of health care.  Our goal is to provide efficient delivery of health care in addition to our education oriented program.  The candidate would be highly involved in residency and fellow training and will be involved in multidisciplinary conferences.   The neuroradiology faculty is expected to be involved in clinical research and will be working with our separate interventional neuroradiology program.  In addition, we also collaborate with other neuroradiology faculty at our sister institutions at the VA Hospital and Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

As Arkansas’ only medical school, the College of Medicine educates and trains the majority of the state’s physicians and prepares doctors and scientists to make their mark around the world. We provide highly specialized, patient-centered care at UAMS Medical Center, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, UAMS regional centers and clinics throughout the state. Our scientists and clinicians are on the forefront of biomedical advances.  Our Department of Radiology faculty offer expertise across key Divisions including Diagnostic & Imaging (MRI/CT/US), Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Neuroradiology, Radiology Sciences and Pediatric Radiology.
