The College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) is seeking applicants for four tenure-track positions in the Department of Epidemiology at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.

The successful candidates will have a PhD in Epidemiology and an established track record of external funding support, or demonstrated potential to obtain external funding, for epidemiologic research in one of following areas: cancer or infectious diseases.

They will be expected to lead an independent research program and engage in collaborative research; participate in teaching and mentoring master's and doctoral-level students; and provide service to the department, college and university.

The Department of Epidemiology offers an MPH and PhD in Epidemiology, certificates in Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Emergency Preparedness and an MS in Emergency Preparedness. There are currently 14 faculty members in the Department of Epidemiology that conduct research on a broad range of health outcomes and exposures.

The College of Public Health is part of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. As Nebraska's only public academic health sciences center, UNMC is committed to improving the future of health and health care in Nebraska and beyond. Areas of emphasis at UNMC include cancer and infectious diseases.

For cancer, the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center and the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer and Allied Diseases conduct research to better understand the causes of cancer and cancer prevention. For infectious diseases, the Center for Biosecurity, Biopreparedness & Emerging Infectious Diseases is focused on activities directed toward preparedness for public health emergencies, as well as research in the fields of preparedness and infectious diseases. Other research activities include HIV/AIDS , healthcare epidemiology, nosocomial and device related infections, orthopedic infections, tuberculosis, solid organ transplant, and antimicrobial resistance.

Omaha, with a population around 900,000 is the largest city in Nebraska. It has a diverse economy that has not only retained its core agricultural products but also expanded to include banking, insurance, telecommunications and other high-technology industries. Requirements

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Epidemiology (PhD, DrPH or equivalent) with evidence of rigorous training in epidemiology, demonstrated capacity to secure external funding, peer-reviewed publications and a commitment to teaching and advising.
