Lecturer or Assistant / Associate / Full Professor – Nuclear Cardiology, Clinician Investigator

The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael's Hospital’s and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic cardiologist with advanced training in nuclear cardiology. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Investigator and a proven academic record of clinical research within this area. The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The expected start date of the position is July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

The successful candidate would be expected to devote approximately 50% of their time to research endeavors, which would involve performance of procedures and participation/reading in the nuclear cardiology laboratory, including cardiac SPECT and PET, working closely with the St. Michael’s Hospital Department of Medical Imaging.

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Preferably, the successful candidate will also have or be working towards a graduate degree relevant to clinical research. Experience in cardiac CT is also a desirable attribute for a successful applicant. Preference will be given to individuals with an interest and demonstrated excellence in carrying out research, as demonstrated by publications in leading journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades.

The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Cardiology at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division currently consists of 27 full time cardiologists and provides comprehensive cardiac care including interventional cardiology, interventional electrophysiology, and non-invasive programs including cardiac imaging, and patient care (ambulatory care, coronary intensive care and clinical teaching units). Members of the Division are internationally recognized in both clinical and basic research, and participate fully in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs at the University of Toronto.
