ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CLINICAL FACULTY APPOINTMENT DEPARTMENT OF GASTROENTEROLOGY, HEPATOLOGY AND NUTRITION

 

The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (GHN) at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking candidates who are interested in a full-time faculty position at the academic rank of Assistant Professor to develop a clinical and translational research program, investigating novel endoscopic approaches in the management of digestive malignancies. This position offers the opportunity for professional growth and development by joining an active group of clinicians, physician scientists, basic and translational investigators.

The successful candidate will closely interact with the many ongoing clinical and research programs within the institution with a focus in the development of endoscopic evaluation, treatments and palliation of gastrointestinal and pancreato-biliary malignancy. The faculty member will have access to GHN’s substantial patient resources, core facilities, animal facilities and educational training programs.

Responsibilities will include clinical care, research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and lead clinical and/or translational research programs in the area of endoscopic tissue acquisition, tumor treatments, palliation and novel endoscopic tissue resection techniques, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration, peer reviewed funding and high impact publications. Experience in high complexity, therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), high complexity endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic drug delivery, endoscopic tumor ablation via ERCP or EUS and advanced endoscopic resection techniques is required. Full thickness resection (EFTR) certification is preferred.

Applicants must have a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and be licensed or be eligible to practice in the State of Texas and approved by the Texas Medical Board. Certification in the specialty of Internal Medicine, the subspecialty of Gastroenterology and Hepatology with additional training in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy is required. Successful candidates should have demonstrated expertise and leadership in clinical and endoscopic research and have at least two years’ experience mentoring residents and clinical fellows in training.

The salary range for this position is $303,000–$376,000.
