Heart Transplantation & Mechanical Circulatory Systems (MCS)
The University of Washington in Seattle is seeking applications for a Surgical Director of Heart Transplantation and MCS in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery. Our heart failure surgical program is one of the largest in the country.
The appointment will be a full-time, 12 month service period, non-tenure track faculty position at the Associate or Professor level, depending upon experience and academic qualifications, with an expected start date in Summer 2021.
The Surgical Director of Heart Transplantation and MCS is responsible for providing cardiac surgical procedures for patients at the University of Washington Medical Center campuses at Montlake and Northwest, and responsible for the medical direction and administration of quality assessment and quality improvement of the multi-disciplinary program. This position will be expected to mentor junior faculty and participate in the education of surgical residents and fellows.
All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.
Successful candidates must have five or more years of significant Heart Transplant and MCS experience, and an established history of publications and research, an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and be American Board of Thoracic Surgery qualified (or foreign equivalent) as of July 1, 2021.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
