Applications are being solicited for the William Chandler Swink Research Professorship in Food Allergy Research. The Swink Chair has been named in honor of William Chandler Swink, a food allergy sufferer who tragically died from anaphylaxis at age 19.
The preferred candidate for the Swink Chair will have a track record of productivity as a clinical researcher in the food allergy space. The candidate will have evidence of productivity particularly focused on translational research and familiarity with both investigational and clinical trials. Prior grant funding from government, charitable foundations, or commercial sources is viewed as an important validation of the candidate’s capabilities.
The position would be located in the Michigan Medicine Mary H. Weiser Food Allergy Center at the University of Michigan. The Center is broadly focused on multidisciplinary research into the causes and the treatment of food allergy. Given the breadth of the Center’s endeavors, it is anticipated that research into most aspects of food allergies would be considered appropriate for the position
Appointment would be in the appropriate department based on the individual’s background and prior academic appointments. A generous startup package would be included with the position in addition to the endowed chair.
