The Department of Radiation Oncology at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a board eligible or board-certified Radiation Oncologist with an interest in multi-specialty Oncology. A focus on relationship building to fortify strong referral patterns is needed.  A strong commitment to clinical and translational research is required and a demonstrated track record of productivity in clinical and translational research is preferred. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading and further developing the radiation oncology component of these programs, including active participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards. A strong interest in the teaching of residents, fellows, medical students and other trainees that rotate through the department is also required. The successful candidate will have an MD or DO degree, or the equivalent and demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. The Department currently has over 30 faculty in its 3 divisions, treating approximately 150 patients per day, with active, funded programs in clinical research, medical physics and molecular radiobiology and targeted imaging. It is an integral component of VCU’s Massey Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Cancer Center.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at VCU provides a full range of clinical services at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center and its regional affiliated facilities.  Services provided include IMRT, image-guided brachytherapy, cone-beam CT-guided radiotherapy, on-line portal imaging, and stereotactic radiosurgery.  The Hanover Massey Cancer Center facility has 1 Varian True Beam linac, and 1 Canon CT simulator. In addition, other technologies are available at the downtown location, which include MR linac (ViewRay), PET CT simulator and MR simulator.
