BayRidge Hospital, a member of Beth Israel Lahey Health and Beverly Hospital, is currently searching for a Nurse Practitioner to join their team in an outpatient setting. BayRidge Hospital provides psychiatric services to the residents of the North Shore and greater Lynn communities. BayRidge offers a continuum of psychiatric and chemical dependency services as an inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient basis.


Schedule:

Part time (20-24 hours/week)


Position Summary:

-Assumes responsibility for the psychopharmacological management of assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a supervising physician.

-Is expected to work collaboratively with each patient
• s treatment network to enhance the smooth delivery of patient care.

-Provides appropriate clinical direction and support to the outpatient and partial hospital clinicians working with their patients.

-Orders tests/procedures in a clinically sound and cost-effective manner using good judgment and consults with supervising physician when appropriate.



Responsibilities:

-Supports the outpatient and hospital mission in such a manner that there is a strong and positive commitment to quality patient care.

-Collaborates with other outpatient and partial hospital clinicians to ensure that safe, therapeutic and effective treatment is provided for all patients.

-Attend and participate in clinical and administrative departmental meetings.

- Work within and support administrative guidelines; handle any discrepancies constructively

- Utilize and provide supervision to enhance professional improvement and development

- Maintain a solid understanding of hospital policies and protocols, practices within those policies and protocols; and enforces such when appropriate







-Carry a clinical caseload and maintain the required productivity level per the Program Director.

-Complete accurate diagnostic assessments, develop treatment plans that are goal oriented and time limited, and maintain appropriate plans.

-Consistently provide appropriate individual, group and crisis intervention treatment for patients

-Assess crisis or emergency situations and intervene immediately with appropriate clinical treatment for patients

-Identify clinical or management issues and communicate problem situations to supervising physician

-Maintain and improve clinical knowledge and skills through participation in continuing ed programs that are relevant to the practice. Participate in ongoing quality improvement studies that will have positive patient care outcomes

-Maintain yearly/biyearly requirements of CPR, Restraint Prevention, and other competencies as required

-Maintain sound knowledge of psychopharmacology

-Work with insurance to obtain approval for services provided

-Assume responsibility for finding coverage for patient caseload during expected absences from the hospital and will, in turn, provide coverage for others as needed

-Able to identify and discuss areas of medical-legal risk, with supervisor

-Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Educational and Professional:
  1. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  2. Current professional license registration in Massachusetts.
  3. ANCC certification in psychiatric and mental health nursing as an NP
  4. Completion of appropriate psychopharmacology courses and current prescriptive authority in Massachusetts.
  1. Previous clinical experience
  2. Credentialed by the Medical Staff to perform approved treatments
