On behalf of Children's Specialty Group (CSG) in Norfolk, VA, AMN Healthcare is conducting a national search to identify a Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. The incoming Chief will serve as the clinical, operational and academic leader of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children's Specialty Group (CSG), Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) and Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS).
The Division Chief of Pediatric Emergency Medicine will be responsible for developing, building and leading the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and for providing evidence-based and multidisciplinary emergency care for pediatric patients at CHKD. In addition, the Chief will provide leadership and management to the Division members in order to support the Division mission and goals for patient care, education and public service.
The Division Chief will participate with CSG and hospital leadership in budgetary, staffing, patient care, professional staff development, performance evaluations and patient/family issues. The Division Chief will also oversee the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Division; direct pediatric emergency care for the pediatric ED at CHKD; lead recruiting efforts for the Division; and ensure career mentoring for all faculty in the Division. They will also oversee faculty scholarly activity that includes provision of education and mentorship to trainees; research and innovation; community outreach and advocacy; and regional and national academic collaboration and thought leadership. In addition, the Division Chief will be a dyad partner with nursing leadership to help establish standard operating protocols which ensures outstanding care for all patients.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated leadership, administration and organization of pediatric emergency medicine services in a complex organization and an established record of clinical program development. In addition, Board Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (or equivalent) is required.
Children's Specialty Group, PLLC (CSG) is a physician owned multi-specialty group practice comprised of over 200 board certified or eligible physicians and 76 advanced care providers across 30 specialty divisions. CHKD's primary service area encompasses southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina, a region that is home to approximately 500,000 children under the age of 21.
Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) Emergency Center is home to the first and only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Hampton Roads, offering the highest level of care available to trauma patients under the age of 15. With 206 inpatient beds and an estimated 5,100 annual admissions, CHKD offers a full range of services including pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, transport services, pediatric cardiac surgery, ECMO and pediatric trauma/burn care. CHKD is also designated as a Level 1 Children's Surgery Center by the American College of Surgeons. CHKD's state-of-the-art 13,000 square foot, 28 bed Emergency Department serves approximately 50,000 patients each year.
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine has 17 PEM Board Certified physicians, 1 PEM trained physicians, 12 General Pediatricians (generally supporting minor care), 7 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Physician Assistants and 7 PEM Fellows. Team members support the Pediatric ED and Trauma Center, Minor Care and the Sedation Service.
