Mineola, NY. NYU Winthrop Hospital is a 591-bed academic medical center located in Nassau County, Long Island and is part of the NYU Langone Medical Center.  The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is seeking a BC/BE Academic Sleep Medicine Physician to join its busy sleep lab and fellowship program.  In addition to a Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship program, our division has an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Sleep Medicine with 2 sleep fellows each year.  The division has both full-time and part-time sleep attendings and is looking for an additional full-time attending to help expand both the clinical and academic mission of the division.

The Department of Medicine has 52 fellows representing all internal medicine subspecialties and 83 medical residents.  Academic appointments are granted from NYU Langone.  The sleep lab has been in existence since the late 1980’s and is currently an 8-bed facility with plans to expand to 10 beds this year.  Both adult and pediatric sleep studies are performed as well as ambulatory sleep studies.  In 2018, approximately 3,400 studies were performed.  While the Sleep Lab and Fellowship program are run by the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, well-qualified applicants with other backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Mineola, Long Island, NY. NYU Winthrop Hospital is seeking a full-time

BC/BE Academic Sleep Medicine Physician for its Division of Pulmonary and

Critical Care Medicine. This is an opportunity for a well-qualified recent graduate or experienced faculty member to participate in the clinical and academic mission of the division. The primary specialty of the sleep medicine specialist can be pulmonary and critical care medicine or other specialties. If the candidate wishes to concentrate less than 100% in sleep, the remainder could be apportioned to a combination of pulmonary and critical care medicine. Although this is a clinically busy division, there is excellent divisional and institutional support for clinical research, and to a lesser extent basic research, which has expanded greatly with the newly-opened Research and Academic Building across the street from our divisional office.

NYU Winthrop Hospital is a 591-bed acute care teaching hospital, and an affiliate of New York University Langone Medical Center (18 miles away in Manhattan). Our institution is the Nassau County Clinical Campus for Stony Brook medical students. Academic appointments are granted from School of Medicine, SUNY at Stony Brook. The division has an 8-bed sleep laboratory for adults and pediatrics, expandable to ten beds, home sleep testing, and a separate sleep medicine practice site. 2918 sleep studies were done in 2016. rehabilitation program, 20-bed MICU/CCU, point-of-care ultrasound, EBUS and electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy programs. The hospital has a recently re-built 4500 sq.ft. simulation center with state-of-the-art equipment, a cancer institute with biweekly thoracic tumor board sessions, a subspecialist pulmonary pathologist, interventional cardiology laboratory, cardiothoracic surgery, a designated stroke center, and level I regional trauma center.

Our Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is comprised of 10 full-time physicians, 8 pulmonary and critical care fellows and 2 sleep fellows; we offer ACGME-accredited fellowships in Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine.
