Outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

The University of Vermont, Robert Larner, MD, College of Medicine and the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVM MC) are seeking a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on the clinical scholar pathway to join our team of professionals to provide family-based outpatient child and adolescent psychiatry services in Burlington, Vermont. This clinician will join eight other child and adolescent psychiatrists along with a dynamic team of child and adolescent nurse practitioners, family wellness coaches, and child psychiatry fellows to provide individual and family treatment to children and adolescents in our outpatient clinic as well as deliver child and adolescent psychiatry services in our associated juvenile residential facility. The outpatient clinic is located in the Vermont Center for Children, Youth, and Families (VCCYF), located in a 400-bed university-based general hospital, which is a principal teaching site for residents, fellows, and medical students. With over 8000 annual outpatient visits each year, the VCCYF is known internationally as a center of excellence for innovative family-based empirical assessment and treatment.

The selected candidate will be responsible for direct patient care along with supervision and teaching of child psychiatry fellows, residents, and medical students within the VCCYF and at Woodside Juvenile Residential facility. An appreciation of the importance of and satisfaction from working as part of an innovative service model, including a willingness to work with the adult parents of child patients, and an ability to work collaboratively are essential. An interest in clinical research, teaching, and/or public health is a plus. Knowledge of evidence-based medical practice is essential.

Applicants must have a medical degree and be board certified in psychiatry and child/adolescent psychiatry. Experience in outpatient and academic settings would be preferred.
