The Department of Internal Medicine, at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time academic position at the Assistant Professor level in the In-Residence series in the Division of General Internal Medicine. The successful candidate will be a clinician investigator with research focused on patient-clinician interactions, for example, developing novel methods to study interactions, associations between interactions and subsequent patient and clinical outcomes, and evaluating interventions targeting patient-clinician interactions. Appointees to this series are required to participate in teaching, research, University/public service and patient care and are expected to develop an independently-funded research portfolio. The selected candidate will work closely with other faculty within the Division of General Medicine, across other divisions in the Department of Internal Medicine, and in related departments, centers and schools at the University of California, Davis, including but not limited to the Departments of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences, the Center for Healthcare Policy and Research, and the School of Nursing. Clinical activities will include precepting in both inpatient and/or outpatient settings, where s/he will supervise and teach both medical students and Internal Medicine residents.

 

Candidates must possess an MD or DO degree as well as advanced training (MPH, MS, PhD, or equivalent clinical experience) in epidemiology, health services research, or one of the social sciences. Candidates must be eligible for licensure in the state of California and board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine. Experience teaching medical students, residents and/or fellows is required. Evidence of success in obtaining grant funding is highly desirable. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse community is required.
