Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a major Boston teaching hospital and founding member of Mass General Brigham, and Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM) seek a Chief to lead the HSDM Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the MGH Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery within the Department of Surgery. The Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will lead all aspects of the clinical practice, educational programs, and research enterprise of the HSDM Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and MGH Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, overseeing financial management, personnel and faculty development, facilities and space planning, strategy development, philanthropy, and all other business, operational, and administrative functions. They will also participate in institutional strategic planning, development activities, and quality and safety initiatives. As Head of the HSDM Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, they will also maintain academic responsibility for faculty at Boston Children’s Hospital and HSDM. The Chief will seek to further the teaching and research missions of the institution, and as such, should qualify for a Harvard School of Dental Medicine appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

The Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery must be a role model for clinical investigators and physicians in training. The position, therefore, requires a skilled clinician who is a national and international leader in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery as well as an exemplary teacher, with a background and significant accomplishments in research. The individual must have administrative experience in a sizable clinical enterprise.
