Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

The College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama (USA) in partnership with Korn Ferry, announces a national search for the Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The leader of the Department will be responsible for the academic and clinical programs in women’s healthcare at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and USA Health.  The clinical activities of the Ob-Gyn department are based in USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, a free-standing, 152-bed facility.

As a key member of the physician leadership team of USA, the successful candidate must demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. The candidate will possess broad, contemporary market insight regarding the current status, trends, and outlook for a women's healthcare delivery system, with a solid grasp of healthcare finance and the ability to effectively participate in strategic planning and program development initiatives.

The Chair must be a compelling values-driven leader with an established academic track record and possess the skillset and experience to lead a clinical and educational enterprise. The Chair's passion for the triumvirate mission will energize the faculty, staff, and learners, focusing their efforts on a strategic vision of excellence across the board. Recruitment, mentoring and career development of junior faculty are critically important components of the position. Importantly, the Chair must be viewed by all stakeholders as a strong advocate for women’s healthcare and a willing collaborator with colleagues outside of the Department.  The Chair will also be a prudent steward of the Department and USA, guiding through changes in the healthcare and social environment.

Qualified candidates must have an MD or DO degree, have successfully completed a 4-year ACGME accredited Obstetrics and Gynecology residency program, and be Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Licensure by the Alabama Medical Board will be required prior to commencement of employment.
