The UCONN Health's School of Dental Medicine is seeking to recruit a highly qualified individual with an outstanding record of accomplishments in education and research, with a record of sustained extramural funding to serve as Chair of the Division of Orthodontics.

The position requires an energetic and nationally prominent individual who is presently at the Associate or Full Professor level and eligible for tenure in the UConn system. Candidates must demonstrate significant experience in dental education, such as working in development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of programs (pre-doctoral, residency, or research program directorship). Successful candidates will have a commitment to evidencebased teaching and practice, demonstrate the leadership skills required to ensure the health and growth of the division, and show recognition of the importance of interpersonal relationship, team building and vision. The Division is in the Department of Craniofacial Sciences and is home to faculty with nationally and internationally known clinical, residency, teaching and research activities in the area of orthodontics. Division faculty members are educators in the dental, graduate and medical school curriculum and provide a vibrant environment for pre/post doc students, residents, fellows and graduate students.

The Chair of the Division of Orthodontics currently reports directly to the Dean of the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, who is the school's chief academic and administrative officer. The Chair will be responsible for oversight of all educational, research and administrative activities involving the division. The Chair will develop and support the education of the residency program and serve as a mentor for students, residents, fellows and will mentor and develop faculty for promotion and tenure. The Chair will work to enhance the funded research portfolio, working with other areas for collaboration, such as Jackson Laboratory, the Musculoskeletal Institute, and the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Skeletal Development. The Chair will also work with faculty and others to develop and deliver continuing education programs, represent the division and the School of Dental Medicine at meetings with internal and external constituencies to promote its clinical, educational, and research programs, take a lead in activities related to accreditation, and perform other duties and additional responsibilities as assigned by the Dean.

Minimum qualifications include, but are not limited to: dental degree from an appropriately accredited institution, eligibility for dental licensure in the State of Connecticut and American Board Certification (or eligibility) in the specialty of orthodontics.
