Healthy Students are Better Learners!
- Assess students for illness with a focus on returning students to the learning environment
- Identify students who have medical conditions such as: asthma, seizure disorders and allergies
- Develop Emergency Care Plans (ECPs) and Individual Health Plans (IHPs)
- Provide skilled nursing services
- Educate students both individually and in the classroom on a variety of age-related health/wellness topics
- Provide consultation for student immunization records
- Provide case management services through facilitating linkage to services when needed
- Provide information about community resources to students, families and school employees
- Participate in health and careers fairs
- Free eyeglasses for qualifying students
- Provide resources for follow up dental care, free or affordable vision care
- Involvement with School Wellness Councils
- Oversee the monthly medication delivery system
- Work with other Metro Public Health Department programs to ensure student follow up
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Must be a Registered Nurse
- School Nurse experience is a plus
