Position Summary: Perioperative Licensed Practical Nurse

Admit preoperative patients under the supervision of an RN. Assist with the discharge of patients

from Phase II recovery under the supervision of an RN. The LPN is directly accountable to an

assigned Registered Nurse; works in collaboration with the RN to deliver excellence in patient

care. Serves as a patient advocate and brings forward all patient safety concerns to the

perioperative team.

Education / Certification/ Experience:
1. Current LPN NewYork State licensure. 2. Minimum of 2 years of healthcare relate work 3. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred 4. Recent post-anesthesia, critical care or recovery care experience preferred 5. Ambulatory surgery/procedural, or urologic and/or colo-rectal office setting experience preferred. 6. Current BLS. 7. Professional organization membership encouraged. 8. Computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Excel and Word are required preferred
Physical Demands:

Requires physical ability, manual dexterity, and stamina (i.e., to lift up to 50 pounds, to push/pull storage carts, frequent bending, reaching, standing and walking and occasional kneeling/squatting and the ability to remain on feet for extended periods of time) to perform the essential functions of the position)
  • Must be able to maneuver x-ray equipment for the purpose of room set up, patient positioning, and intraoperative adjustment.
  • Must be able to assist patients in the surgical/procedural rooms.
  • Hepatitis immunization.
  • Evidence of negative mantoux or chest x-ray.
  • Proof of immunization against rubella and measles, COVID-19.
  • Pre employment physical and Annual health assessment which is sufficient in scope to ensure the employee is free from a health impairment which is a potential risk to patients or which may interfere with the performance of his/her duties.
  • Able to assist in the transfer of patients weighing up to 300 lbs.
  • Physically able to perform CPR.
