Overview:
We have operating rooms located at the Porter camps and the HealthPlex campus. The Porter campus has 10 operating rooms with services ranging from urology, general, neurology, and bariatrics. The HealthPlex campus has 6 operating rooms in the main OR with services of orthopedics, general, and ENT, 1 hybrid room for cardiac cases, and 3 operating rooms for GYN and Robotic cases. Our scrub techs demonstrate teamwork, ensuring the sterile environment is maintained, and keeping a safe environment for our patients. We orient new scrub techs to all of our surgical areas by providing an extensive orientation with a dedicated preceptor in which scrub techs become proficient in all of our service lines. Responsibilities:
The Surgical First Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. In addition to intraoperative duties, the surgical assistant also performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. The surgical assistant to the surgeon during the operations does so under the direction and supervision of that surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy, laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
Completion of accredited Surgical Technologist program (Required).
Completion of an accredited Surgical First Assistant program (Required).
Certified by the NBSTSA, in surgical technology and Surgical First Assisting (CSFA) (Required).
EXPERIENCE
Must have completed accredited Surgical Technology and Surgical First Assistant program and the National Certification from the NBSTSA is required.
(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained for duration of employment.
If Certified Surgical Technologist must have current certification.
Certification for Surgical First Assistant from the NBSTSA Board.
COMPENSATION / BENEFITS
$21.15- 34.55/hr depending on previous work experience, plus shift and weekend differentials.
