The Float Pool:Nursing Station Technicians- Support the work of the RN to provide exceptional care to our patients and families. The NST floats to all areas of the west bank adult units including medical/surgical, orthopedics, acute rehabilitation unit, transitional care unit, adult emergency department, ICU and the newborn family care center. The adult float pool NST also functions in the role of a "flyer" and responds to the needs of the hospital, assisting where necessary.This position works 48 hours in a two week pay period on the day/evening shift, 8 hour shifts, every other weekend. This position is benefit eligible. Responsibilities/Job Description:
The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feedingMaintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering testsSetting up and maintaining patient roomsOrdering and stocking of supplies

Qualifications:
Required: Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire with the following exceptions:If the applicant is currently enrolled in an RN program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program or If the applicant is a current Fairview employee, this requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant positionBasic Life Support (BLS) certification
