Salary Range: Min/Hour $24.78 Mid/Hour $30.98 Max/Hour $37.17

We are looking for an RN to fill the role of our MDS Coder. This role comes with a flexible schedule on the Day shift. The role could be filled by (5) 8-hour days or (4) 10-hour days, there is also no weekend requirement .

RNs with at least 1 year of experience are eligible for a $10,000 sign on bonus. Relocation is also available.

The sign-on bonus will be paid out in two installments: the first pay check and after completion of one year of satisfactory employment.

Please note that current University of Vermont Health Network employees are excluded from eligibility for this bonus.

Job Summary
The MDS (Minimum Data Set) is part of a federally mandated process for clinical assessment of residents in Medicare or Medicaid certified nursing homes.

The MDS Coder serves as resource for ICD-10 coding, as a liaison for rehab personnel in updating resident status and in the absence of the MDS Coordinator, may facilitate MDS related meetings. Assesses resident status, documenting these findings on MDS, raps, and triggers for all required MDS assessments in accordance with CMS RAI manual. The MDS Coder is responsible for updating both MDS and care plan as resident condition indicates and as directed by any other established protocol. They participate in resident care planning conferences to actively direct coordination of care by all disciplines while keeping informed of changes in and/or additions to procedures, policies and requirements with regard to MDS and care plan protocol.

Requirements
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required
  • Ability to receive and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to receive and convey detailed or important communications accurately.
  • Ability to demonstrate collaboration and teamwork within facility
  • Two or more years experience in long term care preferred .
  • Experience with EPIC is preferred , but not required.
