The Cleveland Clinic, a distinguished academic healthcare system, announces its search for Chair of the Department of Subspecialty Care for Women’s Health.

The Department of Subspecialty Care for Women’s Health is a subset within the Ob/Gyn & Women’s Health Institute. Cleveland Clinic’s Ob/Gyn & Women’s Health Institute is committed to providing world-class care for women of all ages. In 2017-18, the institute’s gynecology program was again ranked No.5 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, and is the top-ranked program in Ohio. The Department of Specialty Care for Women’s Health is made up of 6 Sections: Gynecologic Oncology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery & Benign Gynecology, and Specialized Women’s Health. 

The Department of Subspecialty Care has 60 employed physicians and over 170 non-physician support staff including: ultrasound technicians, embryologists, advanced practice providers and nurses. In 2018 the department performed over 105,000 patient visits and 3,400 surgeries distributed over 36 sites, 3 main tertiary care hospitals and 4 secondary hospitals.

The department’s staff participate in resident, fellow, and medical student education at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. A unique residency training program offers tracking into subspecialty areas. Fellowships are offered in Gynecologic Oncology, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, and Specialized Women’s Health. An MFM fellowship is planned for 2020.

The Department Chair will be a physician leader with impressive credentials and report to the Women’s Health Institute Chair.  This physician leader will have the opportunity to implement and drive the strategic mission of her/his department.  The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with a record of excellence in clinical care, education, and scholarship as well as significant experience in leadership, administration, and program development. Duties and responsibilities of the Chair include oversight of general operations, quality and safety, recruitment, retention and faculty development, and mentoring of medical staff, administrators, educators and researchers.
