Position Summary

To provide Interventional Radiology Imaging Leadership and supervise workflow in the IR Suite

Essential Duties

* Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety and operations.
* Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy, correct patient positioning, and exposure factors.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the radiographic film development process.
* Communicates pertinent data regarding imaging needs to peers and radiologist accurately and concisely.
* Knows and follows the proper guidelines for recording and charting.
* Uses sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.
* Accurately coordinates patient procedures.
* Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics involved with the transporting of patients.
* Serves as a leader in the IR Suite by acting as a spokesperson with irate or difficult patients, physicians, and other department personnel.
* Effectively controls the flow of patients through the Department by working to achieve minimum stress, discomfort and waiting time to the patient.
* Explains treatments and procedures to patients and families/significant others.
* Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Interventional Radiology lab by awareness of standards of care, trends in-patient care delivery, as well as technology, equipment and all current applications.
* Show ability to prioritize tasks and delegate as appropriate.
* Coordinates patient flow of admission, discharge and transfer.
* Prepares a balance, effective staffing schedule for the department. Effectively reviews shift assignments with considerations given to staff qualifications and lunch/break time
* Participates in Quality Assurance studies.
* Communicates effectively with physicians and promotes department cooperation with scheduling needs.
* Serves as a resource to staff with new procedures and treatments. Participates with staff in the educational process or facilitates meeting with the appropriate resource person.
* Participates as a preceptor as needed for new employees and supervises preceptors on Unit.
* Reports occurrences from shift to Manager.
* Assures completeness of the Interventional Radiology record and documentation.
* Notifies Clinical Manger of any identified and unresolved problems.
* Performs all other duties as assigned.

Required

Qualifications:

Current California RN license, ACLS and BLS.

Preferred

Minimum of 1 year' Supervisor/Charge experience in an IR Suite or Cath Lab.
