The School of Dentistry at The University of Queensland (UQ) has a long and proud tradition of 83 years of strength in dental education and research, and attracts high achieving students nationally and internationally. As part of the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, the School of Dentistry offers the Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) program and specialist post-graduate programs (Doctor of Clinical Dentistry). The School of Dentistry also has a growing cohort of research higher degree students.

Research within the School is focused on a number of themes, and crosses a range of areas from laboratory-based research through to technologies applied in clinical practice and dental public health.

About This Opportunity

In this highly regarded position, you will contribute principally to clinical teaching in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also work with colleagues in developing a coherent research program.

This position is located at our Herston Campus, UQ’s core campus for clinical health teaching and research (https://campuses.uq.edu.au/herston). Sharing premises with Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, the campus houses a vibrant clinical and research community that delivers innovative and contemporary research and education programs in a clinical academic environment. Conveniently located just minutes from Brisbane’s city centre, there is access to multiple public transport connections, onsite parking and cycling facilities.

Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Advanced professional qualification in Dentomaxillofacial Radiology (Dental Specialist), sufficient for full registration with the Dental Board of Australia as a Dental Specialist.
  • General dental qualification sufficient for full registration with the Dental Board of Australia as a General Dentist.
  • Knowledge and experience in general or specialist dental practice.
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm in high quality clinical teaching in dentistry at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • An ability to establish relationships and to represent and promote dentistry at a university and wider community level.
  • Evidence of clinical research and associated outputs.

What We Can Offer

This is either a full-time or part-time position, negotiable with the successful candidate. The appointment will be continuing at Clinical Academic Level C or D.

The full-time equivalent base remuneration at Level C will be from AUD$117,319 - $135,276 p.a.

The full-time equivalent base remuneration at Level D will be from AUD$141,261 - $155,627 p.a.

In addition, you will receive Dental Loading of AUD$15,175 and employer superannuation contributions of up to 17%.
