Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island, is home to the largest children’s medical center on the South Shore of Long Island. The Pediatric Emergency Department receives 25,000 visits a year and the Pediatric Center has the entire gamut of Pediatric Specialists under one roof. A 4 bedded PICU, a 16 bedded NICU with an in-house Neonatologist, in-house Pediatric Hospitalists, 7 Pediatric Anesthesiologists, Pediatric Radiologists and Pathologists provide support for surgical patients. We are an American College of Surgeons (ACS) designated Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. Opportunities exist for clinical research and for teaching residents and medical students. Affiliate academic positions are available with the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine and Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. A surgical residency program has been approved and is expected to start in the near future.
Currently we are seeking a BC/BE/fellowship trained Pediatric Surgeon to join our team of two experienced Pediatric Surgeons.
Responsibilities will include:
- Participating in pediatric surgical call coverage and providing pediatric surgical care including neonatal surgery, minimally invasive surgery, thoracic surgery and pediatric trauma
- Collaborating with other specialists and develop professional relationships with community pediatricians
- Developing areas of interest in pediatric surgery
- Mentoring is available for young surgeons
Qualifications include:
- BC/BE/fellowship trained
Suffolk County is a favored destination for relocating physicians with excellent school systems, proximity to New York City and innumerable opportunities for activity and relaxation.
