The Department of Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Cardiac Surgeon (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor [CT or CHS]) to join our dynamic Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. The successful candidate will have an MD, DO, or equivalent, be board-eligible or certified in thoracic surgery through the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or in cardiothoracic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery or equivalent, and must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.

The successful candidate will engage in the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery but their clinical practice will have a specific focus on aortic surgery and catheter-based treatment of structural heart and aortic disease.  Clinical duties, which are primary, include provision of care to cardiothoracic surgery patients at the University Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital (VA). The successful applicant will also have an active role in the training and teaching of medical students and surgery residents. The goal of the division will be to increase the cardiothoracic surgery practice through referrals from the region and state. It will be expected that the program will be marketed and the new recruit will give presentations at various hospitals and medical centers throughout the region.
