The Division of Cardiology and the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at University Health Network (UHN), a University of Toronto (U of T) teaching hospital, are seeking applicants for the Ted Rogers and Family Chair in Heart Function. The successful candidate must hold, or be eligible for, a full-time clinical (MD) or status-only academic appointment within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, U of T, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. The term of the Chair position is 5 years with the opportunity for one 5-year renewal following a successful review. Applications will be accepted until Oct 1, 2022 or until filled. Position start date is Jan 1, 2023 or a mutually agreed upon date. 


The Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research, launched in 2014, represents an unprecedented investment of $270 million focused on addressing heart failure across the lifespan. It was created by an extraordinary donation of $130 million from the Rogers family, and contributions totalling $140 million from its three founding partners, Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), UHN and UofT. The Centre’s ambitious research programs include Cardiac Genomics and Precision Medicine, Excellence in Heart Function, and Translational Biology and Engineering. The Ted Rogers and Family Chair provides leadership within the Excellence in Heart Function Program situated at PMCC, guiding research on optimizing diagnosis, treatment and outcomes, equitable access to high quality care, digital health solutions, cardiovascular data science innovation and more. The Chair holder will champion collaborative heart failure research at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at UHN, by integrating,  strengthening and building on the existing team’s basic-, clinical-, health services-, and population-based investigations. Proceeds from this endowed Chair may be used for programmatic research operating support and/or salary to allow the successful candidate sufficient time to focus on research or education in the area of heart failure. 

We welcome applicants working in any research domain directly relevant to the medical management of heart failure. The successful candidate must have a strong research focus and hold either an MD or a PhD in a related discipline with significant expertise in cardiovascular research. If a practicing clinician, they must hold or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The candidate’s excellence in scholarly achievement should be evidenced by international collaborations and peer-reviewed publications. A track record of excellence in collaborative science and leadership is essential.
