Johns Hopkins Cardiac Surgery at Suburban Hospital

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified board-eligible/certified Cardiac Surgeon to join the cardiac surgery program at the Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

Suburban Hospital is a member of the Johns Hopkins Health System and serves over 5 million people in the greater D.C. area with over 14,000 admissions and 4,544 hospital-based outpatient surgery cases annually. Our hospital also serves as the designated regional trauma center for Montgomery County and treats about 1,600 trauma patients each year. In March 2020, Suburban Hospital opened its much-anticipated 300,000-square-foot addition, a state-of-the-art building that modernizes the entire hospital campus and creates an even better flow for patients, families, and clinicians. Suburban Hospital also has various strategic partnerships with local and national healthcare providers, including the National Institutes of Health.

Johns Hopkins cardiac services at Suburban Hospital include elective and emergency angioplasty as well as inpatient, diagnostic, and rehabilitation services. With a certified cardiac catheterization program by MIEMMS and an active TAVR program, Suburban Hospital offers a wide range of quality heart services.  The cardiac surgery program is growing and offers the full spectrum of surgical therapy for patients with adult acquired heart disease.

The ideal candidate will have broad experience in adult cardiac surgery with recognized expertise and a track record of exemplary clinical results in the field of cardiac surgery.  Our preferred candidate will have expertise in coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve surgery, transcatheter valve replacement and will have the skillset needed to develop a robust elective practice within the National Capital Region and aggressively grow the clinical program.  Hopkins is a world-renowned research institution that provides a superb academic foundation for clinical and translational research. Robust opportunities exist to enhance the Division’s existing research portfolio through collaboration with an array of researchers within the Department of Surgery and across the University.

Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in cardiothoracic surgery and have at least 3 to 5 years of independent operative experience. Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree and be eligible for licensure in Maryland. Candidates must be board-certified in cardiac surgery. {At least five years of experience preferred}.
