The Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center, in Boise, Idaho is seeking a board-certified Pulmonologist to serve as Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Section Chief.  A staff Pulmonologist will serve as a consulting physician for all Medical Intensive Care Unit patients.  These attending duties do include supervision of Internal Medicine Residents, Family Medicine Residents and Medical students.  He or she will perform procedures as indicated in critical care settings, including but not limited to insertion of central venous catheters, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and bronchoscopy.  He or she will also be expected to perform scheduled outpatient bronchoscopy as indicated.  A staff pulmonologist will be expected to perform inpatient Pulmonology consultations as requested by Medical and/or Surgical teams. Additionally, he or she will be expected to see patients in outpatient Pulmonary Consult Clinics and interpret Pulmonary Function Tests.  Sleep certification is not an absolute requirement and Sleep duties will depend on board certification. 

The Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Section Chief will be responsible for the direct supervision of staff Pulmonologists and Advanced Practice Providers (Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners) in the section.  This physician will also formally manage the Sleep Lab Supervisor and the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor.
