Chief of Hand and Upper Extremity (ACADEMIC POSITION) UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO Department of Orthopaedic Surgery UCSF School of Medicine Associate/Full Professor Level Position

The University of California, San Francisco Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is recruiting an outstanding surgeon to assume the role of Chief of the Hand and Upper Extremity service. The role of Chief of Service entails accountability for support of all aspects of the department’s mission, including clinical care, quality, research, outreach, and education.

The selected candidate will be expected to provide vision and leadership for the Hand and Upper Extremity service, further developing established clinical programs and scientific investigation. The candidate will bring nationally recognized hand and upper extremity expertise, providing elite level diagnostic and surgical skills. Participation in didactic and bedside teaching and mentoring activities for medical students, residents, and fellows is expected. The Chief of the Hand and Upper Extremity service will be based at the UCSF Orthopaedic Institute, support its satellite clinical facilities, and will have full access to extensive academic resources and support.

The selected candidate will bring credentials that will allow appointment to the Associate or Professor rank. Candidates must meet the requirements by the time of appointment:

• A valid California medical license will be required as a condition of employment - MD degree from an accredited program

• Completed an accredited Orthopaedic Residency program Completed an accredited Hand Fellowship

• Board certification/eligibility in Orthopaedic Surgery

• Associate Level: demonstrated research and teaching experience
