The Department of Dermatology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Melanoma, pigmented lesions, Merkel cell cancer, squamous cell cancer, basal cell cancer, and rare tumors.
Teaching responsibilities may include training residents in dermatology and other specialties caring for skin cancer; fellows in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology; medical students; trainees rotating from other countries or institutions.
There will be an opportunity to establish a fellowship in solid tumor cutaneous oncology.
Clinical responsibilities may include evaluation and treatment of patients with skin cancer, particularly those with a high-risk of recurrence or metastasis. This will comprise growing the Penn Dermatology Oncology Center’s specialty clinics, including the Pigmented Lesion Clinic, the Rare and Inherited Skin Cancer Clinic, and the High-Risk Skin Cancer Clinic for Organ Transplant Recipients and Immunosuppressed Patients.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include clinical research addressing practical questions in the care of patients at increased risk for recurrence or metastasis from skin cancer; translational research in collaboration with physician scientists focused on skin cancer; clinical trials for new drugs to prevent or treat skin cancers; collaborative research with other specialists.
The Clinician Educator will have protected time for academic and administrative pursuits.
Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Applicant must be board certified or board eligible in Dermatology.
The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Dermatology with a focus on cutaneous oncology and skin cancers at increased risk for recurrence or metastasis. Skin cancer expertise, proven by publications, invited lectures, or clinical experience, strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience or potential is preferred.
