Organ Procurement Surgeon

The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Stanford University School of Medicine, seeks candidates for the position of Organ Procurement Surgeon.

The candidate will participate in the procurement of heart, lung, and heart/lung allografts.  The Organ Procurement Surgeon will be immediately available to respond to all calls for retrieval of organs.  Travel by airplane, helicopter, and ground vehicle is a required component of this position.  Depending upon qualifications, the surgeon may also work as an assistant surgeon with the heart or lung transplant attending surgeons, assist with office practice, and participate in research and academic activities.  This position will be an integral part of one of the largest transplant programs in the U.S.

Qualifications:  Current, unrestricted California medical license (if not held, assistance in obtaining will be provided); experience in organ transplant preferred but not necessary; demonstrated clinical ability and experience to perform duties and responsibilities outlined above and work effectively in a surgical service environment.  Clear verbal communication skills a must.
