The Opportunity
Seeking Board Eligible/Certified Emergency Medicine, Hospital Medicine or Primary Care physicians
Current CA state license is a plus
Care for an underserved and very vulnerable population
Work in a safe and secure environment
Work to reform healthcare policy in the jail within transgender, hepatitis C and MAT initiatives
Opportunities to advance to Assistant Medical Director
Help establish a quality program to become an accredited NCCHC

The Practice

San Mateo County Jail - Redwood City, California
Also known as Maguire Correctional Facility, this operates as the main jail in San Mateo County
Primarily houses male inmates and provides incarceration and rehabilitative services for pretrial and court-sentenced inmates
Shifts are 5 hours, Monday through Friday with flexible start times, 2-3 day commitment per week
No weekends or nights
Evaluate emergenc, urgent and chronic conditions with easy access to offsite resources
