What You Will Do:
Oncologyis a fast paced medical/surgical oncology unit specializing in the care of patients who are at all stages of their disease process. You should expect to care for medical/surgical oncology patients as well as medical lung, thyroid,esophageal, and colon oncology patients as our primary diagnoses but can also serve those with breast and GYN treatment as well.This patient populationwill have a lot of drains and tubes for blood administration, pain control, antibiotic administration.
You will assist in end of life care, post-op care & psychosocial support for patients and their families. As an Associate with Saint Thomas Health Svcs-TN,you will have the opportunitytomake a difference byperformingbasic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision in the assigned area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Aids with entry and exit of patients.
* Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs) such as feeding, bathing, grooming.
* Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
* Responsible for keeping patient rooms clean and orderly as well as maintaining medical equipment.
What You Will Need:
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
* BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date orjob transfer date required.
* Nurse Aide credential preferred.
Education:
* High school diploma or GED required.
