ABOUT THE POSITION Riverside University Health System-Medical Center is currently recruiting for Per Diem House Supervisors located in Moreno Valley, CA.The House Supervisor is responsible for making staffing adjustments hospital wide to meeting nurse to patient ratios; facilitating patient throughput via EPIC; handling complaints; Human Resource issues; responding to Codes; and other duties as assigned as an administrative representative of the hospital.The ideal candidate for this position will possess 2 years of full time, current experience as a House Supervisor and/or other nursing leadership positions in an acute care hospital. Preferably ICU experience, but not a requirement. Candidates with experience using EPIC electronic medical record system, familiar with Live Process and Reddinet are highly desirable. House Supervisor - Per Diem: $57.26 HourlyWork Schedule: House Supervisors work 7:30 AM/PM to 8:00 AM/PM (12 hour shifts). As a Per Diem House Supervisor, we will need a candidate that is flexible, with the ability to work days or nights as needed. Typically in order to keep their skills up, we would like the Per Diem person to work 1-2 shifts per month, more if needed due to regular staff being short.Per Diem personnel are distinguished from regular employees in that they receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits and work assignments are flexibly scheduled or on an as needed basis:- Additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits- Flexible work schedule- Holiday Premium Pay (12-14 days a year)- 3 Paid Sick Days- Eligible for medical benefits- Teaching Hospital & Level 2 Trauma Center- 401(a) plan, contributing 3.75% of salary to the pension plan- Eligible for education reimbursement/discountMeet the Team! Riverside University Health System EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES Assist in determining staffing needs; responsible for staffing decisions.Assist in monitoring performance of nursing units and nursing services and in identifying the training and development needs of staff.Maintain bed control by determining and verifying bed assignments.Evaluate utilization of personnel, supplies, equipment and physical facilities for optimum effectiveness and working conditions.Make effective rounds throughout the hospital to observe patient care, environmental conditions and general atmosphere.Respond to situations involving patients, unit, staff and visitors and provide a resolution.
• Monitor compliance to hospital policies, rules and regulations and document and communicate noncompliance to appropriate personnel.Assist in implementing objectives, standards and plans pertaining to activities of all personnel within the units.Assist in implementing objectives, standards and plans pertaining to activities of all personnel within the units.Interpret and support philosophies and policies of the nursing division to hospital personnel.Collaborate with other departments to insure continuity of patient care.Serve as a liaise between Administrator-On-Call and external agencies.Consult with Director of Nursing Services or other Administrative representative concerning matters that require immediate attention beyond their scope of authority. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requirement for the House Supervisor position is at least three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting, with at least one year working as a Charge Nurse or supervisory position. A BSN is highly preferred as well as previous experience working in either the ICU or Medical-Surgical unit. Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.Candidates must also possess a Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certificate issued by the American Heart Association.Knowledge of: Modern principles, techniques, and procedures of nursing; Hospital routine, supplies and equipment; Principles and techniques of effective supervision and administration; Working knowledge of policies regarding unit staffing patterns; Problem solving techniques, team building principles and infection control as it relates to bed assignments. Ability to: Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and review the activities of assigned nursing services; Supervise, instruct, motivate, and train professional and nonprofessional employees; Analyze needs of nursing services in terms of personnel, equipment, and supplies; Identify opportunities for improvement in nursing operations consistent with contemporary nursing trends; Establish and maintain systems of records and reports; Establish and maintain cooperative relationships; Apply management principles; Relate and work effectively with others; Communicate effectively in verbal and written English.Education: Possession of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from a recognized college is preferred.Experience: Three years of progressively responsible nursing experience on the nursing staff of an accredited acute care hospital which included one year in a supervisory capacity. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Condition of Employment In accordance with the California Department of Public Health Order dated August 5, 2021, health care facility workers who work in indoor settings where care is provided to patients or where patients have access for any purpose must be vaccinated against COVID-19 as follows: first dose of a one-dose regimen or second dose of a two-dose regimen, by September 30, 2021. Consideration may be given to candidates who are in the process of completing their vaccination regimen. The Order allows for workers to be exempt from the vaccination requirements by providing the facility with a declination form signed by the individual stating either of the following: (1) the worker is declining vaccination based on Religious Beliefs; or (2) the worker is excused from receiving any COVID-19 vaccine due to Qualifying Medical Reasons. Workers who are exempted from the vaccination requirements must observe all other infection control requirements, including face coverings and regular COVID testing at the frequency required by their work site. A requirement of employment is to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, or a completed COVID-19 Vaccination Declination form (filled out by the candidate and their medical provider as appropriate), during the pre-employment process.
