Job Description

Registered Nurses are responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to prevent disease and promote health through the application of critical thinking and the ability to exercise independent judgment. The RN's provides support and assistance to medical providers and coordinates direct patient care while facilitating patient flow.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
  • Provides direct and indirect patient care for the appropriate NARA site.
  • Assesses patients for urgency of need and prioritizes by acuity in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Telephone calls, walk-ins and appointment consultations including blood pressure checks, injections and phlebotomy.
  • Reads and provides appropriate documentation for TB testing if required.
  • Performs dressing changes, wound care, and suture removal per provider orders, assists with procedures when needed
  • Provides patient education regarding both chronic and acute medical issues
  • Completes the RN Prenatal intake/ exam, maintains registry and provides case management as needed
  • Maintains accurate, appropriate and timely documentation in the medical records as needed and required by regulations.
  • Participates in development and implementation of Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Collaborates with clinical team regarding needs of clients/patients.
  • Exhibits the ability to work with patients of various socio-economic backgrounds and temperaments; demonstrates tact, diplomacy and compassion; responds appropriately in emergency and stressful situations; acts as patient advocate
  • Ensures that all services are delivered in a culturally sensitive manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse with the State of Oregon, BSN Required.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse with the State of Washington or the ability to become licensed within six months of hire date.
  • Two years experience in health care.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, other NARA staff, team members, and to treat everyone with respect and dignity at all times.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is considered a plus.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests. Ability to pass criminal background and DMV checks.
