This position facilitates quality patient care by collaborating with our providers in triaging patient, referring physician telephone service, referrals, and hands-on patient care. Responsibilities
  • Call patients after surgery.
  • Triage patient calls that are of a complex nature or require clinical judgment.
  • Authorize prescription refills; triage patient and pharmacy calls.
  • Triage physical therapy, DME requests, etc.
  • Document patient information and interactions in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Assess and triage second opinion medical record documentation.
  • Professional correspondence with Providers, both written and verbal.
  • Monitor for timeliness of Provider response.
  • Communicate with referral source (physicians, patients) regarding determination of second opinion assessment.
  • Collaborate with all necessary GCBS departments.
  • Provide patient education - outpatient/inpatient
  • Provide assistance to Central Scheduling and Medical Administrative Assistants in clinical matters.
  • Post-operative office visits.
  • Wound evaluation with suture/staple removals.
  • Assist providers in clinic as needed.
  • Prepare patient charts for surgery at hospitals and surgical centers.
  • Enter patient information into the company database used to communicate with providers in the hospital.
  • Participate in hospital rounds as needed per physician request.
  • Participate in influenza vaccinations and PPD testing for employees annually.

Qualifications
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent rapport with patients, families, collaborating physicians and ancillary staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Advanced math drug dosage calculations.
  • Extremely flexible with the ability to work independently, without direct physician supervision.
  • Excellent work practice and ethics.
  • Thorough understanding of governing laws and regulations (HIPAA/OSHA/BBB).
  • Excellent communication and language skills.

Education and Experience
  • Associate degree in Nursing; Bachelors preferred or ASN with nursing experience.
  • Unlimited Indiana Registered Nurse license.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Three years of experience in neurosurgical intensive care or related.
