We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assoc Director, Pathology.

In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine goals of providing quality service to customers. Integrates and coordinates the functions and services of testing performance to meet necessary delivery of laboratory data to physicians and health care providers. Assures compliance with regulatory affairs agencies.

Job Responsibilities:

Assists the Administrative Director to ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies, NY State Dept. of Health (NYSDOH), College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission (TJC), Occupations Safety Health Administration (OSHA), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), NY State Dept. of Education (SED), Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) guidelines. Ensures that the institution meets all regulatory requirements relevant to quality and patient safety.
Overseas all aspects of operations of Anatomic Pathology (AP) Laboratories OR Clinical Pathology (CP) Laboratories as delineated by the chair. Effectively plans & assumes a leadership role in the department.
Participates in departmental and institutional performance improvement activities that impact patient care services. Ensures that processes are in place, to adequately monitor and ensure the validity of laboratory data.
Participates in the recruitment, orientation and development of staff. Performs annual employee job performance reviews. Participates in counseling and disciplinary actions of employees.
Recommends budget expenditure and planning to the Administrative Director. Monitors and manages the use of resources to ensure adherence to the budget. Develops recommendation for capital expenditure. Ensures that various administrative processes (i.e. payroll, purchasing) are completely timely, accurately and compliant to institution policies and procedures.
Works collaboratively within the organization to promote positive patient outcomes and quality care. Builds and maintains effective relationships with physicians and all care team.
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical laboratory science or related field.
Current and valid NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
Minimum 6 years Clinical Laboratory Experience.
1 - 2 years management experience in the clinical and/or anatomic administrative aspects of the Department of Pathology.
Strong communication (both oral and written), counseling, customer service, problem-solving, planning, organization, and multitasking skills.
Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel.
Ability to work independently, interact with and maintain functional relationships with personnel at all levels within and outside the organization.
Required Licenses: Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree Healthcare Administration, Hospital administration or Business Administration. MLScm - American Association of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).
