Heart Failure Cardiologist Needed

Baptist Health Medical Center

Little Rock, AR

Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, AR is seeking a fourth Heart Failure trained Cardiologist to join our team.  Baptist Health is the largest hospital system in the state of Arkansas with eleven hospitals. The flagship hospital in Little Rock is an 827-bed facility.

Baptist Health has been a leader in cardiovascular services in Arkansas for almost 50 years. With each advancement in cardiovascular services over this time, Baptist Health has been the first: the first adult heart transplant; the first LVAD; and the first Total Artificial Heart. The latest advancement came with the creation of the Baptist Health Heart Failure and Transplant Institute. The Institute is Arkansas’ first center devoted exclusively to advance heart failure, MCS, and transplant. Currently Baptist Health is the only active adult heart-transplant provider in Arkansas. To date, Baptist Health has performed 287 heart transplants and are following over 190 post-transplant patients. As one of the leading and top 5 enrolling centers of the Momentum trial and CAP, we have implanted 400 patients with a HeartMate II or HeartMate III. We are currently following 180 VAD patients out in the community. We also recently implemented the first formal statewide Shock/ECMO program.

Baptist Health is seeking to employ a Board Certified/Board Eligible Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist who will have primarily a heart failure, MCS and transplant practice. There are currently three Cardiologists in the program and 100% of their practices are the advanced heart failure patient population. Together with the existing physicians, the new Heart Failure physician will receive referrals from Cardiologists around the state who will send their patients to this statewide advanced heart failure center.

Baptist Health has the infrastructure and resources in place to make this practice successful. The facility was built in 2010 and has thirteen exam rooms. The total facility space is almost 10,000 square feet. The support staff includes 4 VAD nurses, 3 transplant nurses, 4 heart failure nurses, 2 physician assistants, 2 advanced practice nurses, a social worker, a PharmD, a dietician, transplant administrator, financial manager and coordinator, data coordinator with additional clerical support staff. We have Echo, lab, x-ray and cardiopulmonary stress testing in the clinic. We are also staffed with our own clinical research team.

The ideal candidate will be a physician who is motivated to join a growing and diverse Advanced Heart Failure program, with a desire to help us continue to grow this dynamic program.
