ROSWELL PARK COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER

The Department of Internal Medicine (DoIM) is seeking to recruit a full-time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to join a vibrant team of physicians and scientists dedicated to preventing, understanding and treating cancer and cancer-related complications. A Ph.D. in Epidemiology or a related field is required. The Clinical Epidemiologist will support clinical research and Quality Improvement initiatives in close collaboration with physicians in the DoIM and other clinical departments. In addition, the Clinical Epidemiologist will have substantial collaboration in translational research with colleagues in Population Sciences, IT and Biomedical Informatics, and experience in these fields is strongly preferred. The successful applicant will be expected to hybridize research and QI, and to have both a lead and collaborative role in peer-reviewed publications.

The search committee will consider clinical and translational research interests, publication record, track record of grant support and commitment to patient care and teaching. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications and years of experience. Faculty will be recommended for a joint appointment at the Jacobs School of Medicine, University at Buffalo. Roswell Park offers a generous fringe benefits package.

RPCI’s contributions to reducing the global cancer toll include initiating the world’s first chemotherapy program; pioneering the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, photodynamic therapy and the combination chemotherapy of leucovorin and 5-FU (the gold standard for colon cancer treatment); developing the RPMI 1640 Culture Media (used in research labs around the world); and collaborating on landmark studies related to the Human Genome Project. Roswell Park initiated one of the nation’s first centers dedicated to Early Phase Clinical Trials and drives innovative cancer research in genetics, cell stress and immunotherapy, leading to new personalized treatments.
