This is a position listing for a Nurse Practitioner position at the Ft Knox located by Radcliff, KY.

Nurse Practitioner

* This position will be performed from January to August**

Site Of Service

* Soldier Readiness Program (SRP), Nelson Troup Medical Center (TMC), Medical Readiness Clinic (MRC), or any other CLINICs Pediatrics, Blue Homes Clinic or Red Homes Clinic at Ireland Army Health Clinic, Fort Knox KY.
* HCWs shall receive notification 3 days prior to the reassignment to another location.

Position

Qualification/Requirements

* Degree: Master's degree in nursing.
* Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that is accredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
* Certification: Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS certification. PALS and NRP certifications are encouraged.
* Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration. The licenses and registration must be renewed and maintained in a current status during the life of the contract.
* Experience: Have been employed a minimum of one year practicing as a Nurse
* Practitioner within the past two years.
* Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.
* U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
* English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
* HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required under the contract and TO.

Specific Duties

* The HCW shall serve as the subspecialty consultant for the medical management of referred patients. The HCW shall use the MTF established procedures for obtaining consultations for the referral of patients to secondary and tertiary level services.
* The HCW shall see 3 patients per hour minimum and complete the medical documentation as part of the patient visit, electronically within 24 hours of encounter. Expect at least 21 patient encounters a day.
* The HCW shall provide comprehensive and continuing medical care for patients from birth to 18 years of age. The HCW shall be capable of performing the full range of Pediatric services to include, but not limited to: performing physical examinations of sick and well infants and children; performing preschool and pre-athletic examinations; administering vaccines and immunizing agents as required; prescribing and administering treatment, such as treatment for colds, infectious diseases, common allergies, and emergency treatment for minor illnesses and injuries; performing emergency treatment in cases of serious illness or injury and Recommending arrangements to the nearest hospital.
* The HCW shall instruct and monitor other medical personnel in care and treatment of patients to include non-therapeutic services such as physical examination. The HCW shall provide medical supervision of physician extenders such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
* The HCW shall initiate requests for laboratory tests and x-rays, as appropriate. Follow-up of abnormal reports is the responsibility of the ordering physician. All abnormal x-ray and lab reports received on patients seen by the HCW shall be reviewed by the ordering physician within 24 hours of its receipt.
* The HCW shall prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with IRAHC directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required. The HCW shall ensure all documentation and reports are legible.
* The HCW shall perform peer review, chart review, and other quality assurance functions as required to meet the standards of the Joint Commission. The HCW shall participate in consultant visits, staff meetings, and conferences as scheduled by the Chief, Department of Medicine or his designated representative. These tasks are accomplished in conjunction with routine work.
* Composite Health Care System (CHCS)/AHLTA. HCWs shall use the CHCS/AHLTA for keeping records, ordering of ancillary procedures, ordering of medications, writing doctor's orders, schedule follow-up visits and performing other required patient functions. The government will provide training to contract employees. Access to such patient data systems is an "Automated Data Processing Sensitive" position requiring compliance with AR 25-2 and AR 380-67.
* Infection Control. The HCW shall adhere to Centers for Disease Control guidelines concerning standard precautions and MEDDAC Memo 40-15, Infection Control Program, at all times while providing services under this contract.

Duties

* Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted by the MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients for routine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations; diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
* Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
* Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.
* Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
* Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
* Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
* Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.

Hours

* Normally 7:00am - 3:30pm
* Generally, schedules will be 7 days a week (Sunday - Saturday), 8 hour work day.
* You would work 80 hours every two weeks
* Any scheduled absences shall be coordinated and approved at least 60 days in advance and mutually agreed upon by the COR and the contractor.
* Scheduled absences shall be limited to two (2) weeks.

Special Requirements/Skills

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
