Sarcoma Service Director
Department of Radiation Oncology
The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking to recruit an academic radiation oncologist to serve as Sarcoma Service Director. The Radiation Oncology Department, an integral part of the comprehensive Mass General Cancer Center, is equipped with Elekta and Varian linear accelerators with integrated imaging capabilities, a proton cyclotron with 3 treatment rooms (and a second center opening later this year), GE CT Simulators, and Raystation and Astroid Treatment Planning systems. The department, including our community-based locations, treats over 400 patients per day. The department is fully supported by a talented team of radiation therapists, dosimetrists, medical physicists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and administrative support staff.
The Sarcoma Radiation Oncology Service is one of the largest in the world, treating over 500 patients and providing close to 6,000 treatments per year across both proton and photon modalities. The Service also focuses on innovation, groundbreaking research, and contributes to the teaching mission of the hospital and Harvard Medical School.
The applicant will be expected to be active clinically and to supervise Medical Students and Medical Residents. The candidate should have an established clinical and research experience specializing in sarcoma radiation therapy. Clinical leadership experience is also preferred. The incumbent will enjoy working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary clinical, research, and academic setting with colleagues in the Department and throughout the hospital.
Appointment as an Associate Professor or Professor at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements in addition to teaching activities. Suitable candidates will have an MD or an MD-PhD, and Board Certification in Radiation Oncology.
Although several years of direct clinical and research experience would be advantageous, less experienced candidates with exceptional promise will also be considered.
Interested candidates should send a personal statement with research interest, three potential referees and curriculum vitae to:
