The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for this tenuretrack or tenured faculty position (rank and tenure status are dependent upon qualifications). The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive ability to provide leadership and care for the thoracic surgical patient population, including management of thoracic malignancies, esophageal disease, mediastinal tumors, lung transplantation and the use of minimally invasive surgical procedures.
Enthusiastic leadership and experience in student, resident and thoracic fellow training and education are essential, as is the mentorship of departmental faculty members. A strong record of academic leadership, industry or grant-funded research and a nationally recognized reputation are expected of successful candidates.
Candidates must be board-certified in thoracic surgery with a nationally recognized background in clinical or basic science research, as well as currently hold an appointment of Associate or Full Professor.
The University of Virginia has excellent ACGME- accredited General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery Residency programs with strong national reputations.
