The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle is recruiting for two full-time, 12 month service period, non-tenure track Cardiothoracic Surgeon faculty positions at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. The salary and rank are commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in summer 2020.

This position will perform general cardiac surgery procedures, including but not limited to heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices. The primary site of practice for this position is the University of Washington Medical Center. Patient care may also be provided at or coordinated with Harborview Medical Center, Northwest Hospital and Medical Center, and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System. 

The cardiothoracic surgeon will also be responsible for teaching and training of residents, fellows and medical students, as well as participation in quality metrics, clinical and/or basic science research. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

Prospective candidates must have an MD degree (or foreign equivalent) and be American Board of Thoracic Surgery qualified (or foreign equivalent) as of July 1, 2020.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
