Elwood Care Center - The Elwood Care Center is looking to hire a Registered Nurse for a full time position on our day shift! Hours are 6 am to 6 pm. Flexible scheduling.
The Registered Nurse (RN) in charge is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to all residents in the facility.
This will be accomplished by; planning, organizing, leading and controlling the work of all personnel assigned to your shift.
Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities-Not all-inclusive

All duties listed in the Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide Job Description.
Inserting, removing and irrigating a urinary catheter.
Sterile hot and cold applications
Reinforcing and dressing changes with aseptic technique.
Making, reporting and documentation of observations.
Colostomy care and irrigations.
Applying ace bandages and pressure stockings.
Make rounds with physicians when he comes.
Craniotomy checks.
Administration of tube feeding.
Performs duties related indirectly to patient care, such as cleaning of utensils and equipment and keeping medication room, cupboards and drawers clean.
Make out nursing schedules for nursing assistants as to assigned areas.
Makes appropriate assignments to medication aides based on recipient safety and competency of medication aides.
Determines competency of medication aides to provide additional activities.
Provides direction and monitoring of medications for recipients who are receiving medications by medication aides.
Document all changes in resident's condition.
Administer all medications in the proper manner.
Supervise the passing of snacks.
Weekly charting.
Good hand washing and use of universal precautions.
Give and receive report.
Schedule Doctor's appointments and take off orders. Communicate with Dietary and other departments as needed.
Maintain good relationships with the residents and their family members.
Draw blood for testing.
Perform glucose monitoring.
Administer IV medication and fluids as ordered.
Read care plans to keep current with plan of care.
Follow chain of command to report abuse and/or neglect.
Order medications from pharmacy.
Complete new admission and readmission paperwork.
Provide nebulizer treatments.
Staff and Resident teaching.
Administer oxygen therapy.
Perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
Discharge teaching.
Provide injections, IM/ID/SQ

Education, training and experience required:

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska.
Experience which has provided opportunities to refine competencies in nursing practice and leadership skills are desirable.

Position Training
A probationary period of 3 months (commencing with the date of employment) is required, during which time the employee will satisfactorily demonstrate to the Director of Nursing the ability to perform the specific duties assigned.
Assignment, Review and Approval of work
The duties of the Registered Nurse (RN) are reviewed and approved by the Director of Nursing. The Registered Nurse (RN) supports the management of the facility and report exceptions to the Director of Nursing.
Physical skills and equipment operation
The Registered Nurse (RN) must display and demonstrate knowledge of appropriate scientific principles utilized in Performing those skills associated with the operation of specific equipment, and must have mastered those skills performed by the Registered Nurse (RN) to carry out nursing procedures as efficiently, accurately and safely as possible.
Performance Measurement
Performance is measured based on the Registered Nurses (RN) ability to perform accurately and efficiently the required skills defined in the job description.

Additional information
The Registered Nurse (RN) may be assigned to another shift temporarily and may be called for duty in the event of illness, emergency or disaster.
The Registered Nurse (RN) demonstrates self control and emotional stability in a variety of demanding situations. The Registered Nurse (RN) must be interested in helping people and have a sincere desire to constantly improve nursing knowledge and skills.
The Registered Nurse (RN) is potentially subject to injury from improper use of body mechanics or improper use of equipment. The Registered Nurse (RN) is also potentially subject to infections resulting from improper application of infection control techniques.
