The Salisbury VAMC is actively seeking a well-qualified Telemental Health Hub Psychiatry Section Chief with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to serve as Unit Chief at the Charlotte CBOC.

This is a 100% Virtual position.

There are no Recruitment Incentives associated with this position.
Duties include, but not limited to:

The Section Chief will work with the other Mental Health supervisors to ensure that appropriate disposition services and meaningful therapeutic treatments are being offered throughout the department.
Evaluate the patient to assess change in the physical and mental status.
Supervision of Psychiatry staff
General oversight Advanced Clinical Providers working in Mental Health.
Clinical coverage of Inpatient Units and Outpatient Units, as necessary.
Advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters.
Clinical and administrative coverage for the Mental Health local service line manager, as needed.
Review and approval/disapproval of leave requests.
Initiate or participate in an ongoing research activity.
Assure that subordinates are trained and fully compliant with the provisions of safety regulations.
Continually promotes teamwork by cooperating with and supporting staff, visitors and customers in achieving hospital goals/mission.
Administratively and clinically responsible to the Chief, Mental Health Service Line.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30, on-call rotation, including rounds on acute patients during weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience: Board Certified

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.

Physical Requirements: Functional requirements include Light to Moderate Lifting (15 - 44 lbs.); Light Carrying (15 lbs. and under); use of fingers; both hands required; Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; Both eyes required Depth perception; ability to distinguish basic colors; ability to distinguish shades of colors; Hearing (aid permitted).
