The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA is seeking a Board Eligible or Board Certified Urologist. The Urologist is accountable to the Chief, Surgical Service, for assuring the most effective delivery of care in Urology while meeting and exceeding compliance standards.

Vacancy announcement is subject to close at any time after initial two week open period (3/23/2021). Applicants will be referred every two weeks.
The Urologist duties include, but are not limited to:

Performance of surgical procedures and patient admission and discharges, consultation, evaluation and treatment to manage various conditions, illnesses and injuries to the urologic systems
Conduct clinics, make referrals, recommendations for treatment and/or medication and follow up care of Veteran patients experiencing urologic problems
Perform major and minor urologic procedures
Performs the administrative components of patient care management, such as: authors and/or provides dictation of notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, signatures, and consultation referrals for inpatients, and outpatients, etc.
Fosters a high level of patient and staff satisfaction
Ensures communication with incoming evening Medical Officer of the Day and/or Urologist on call regarding in-patient care issues
Attend Surgery Service staff meetings as well as meetings of the medical staff
Completes medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff

Work Schedule: Anticipated tour of duty isMonday - Friday 8am,-4:30pm, with after hours call. Tour will be discussed during interview and may change based on department needs.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus (up to an additional 7.5% of their salary (not to exceed $15k), regular salary increases.

Qualifications

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:

Board Eligible or Board Certified by the American Board of Urology
Robotics and advanced case experience desired

Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 lbs.), light carrying (under 15 lbs.), pushing (5 hrs.), reaching above shoulder, walking (5 hrs.), standing (5 hrs.), both legs required, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, Ability to see computer screen, depth perception, ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing (aid permitted).
