*Educational and Experience Requirement:*Bachelor's degree in related field. Doctorate in Nursing or related field from an accredited institution preferred. Must be eligible for, or hold, unencumbered Texas license as a healthcare professional. Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification preferred. Eight years of experience in healthcare simulation as an educator or Sim technician or closely related field. Previous experience in nursing education and in clinical nursing practice in an acute care setting preferred. Previous leadership or management experience in clinical or academic environment. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
*Nature & Purpose of Position:*Assists the Director of the Sam Houston State University School of Nursing by ensuring, through direct supervision or delegation, the skills and simulation labs are meeting the educational objectives of the School of Nursing.
*Primary Responsibilities:*Actively participates in the leadership of the School of Nursing (SON) by participating on the Assistant Director and Executive teams. Develops and implements strategic planning, including short and long-term goals and objectives, to meet the educational mission and pedagogical vision for the skills and simulation labs. Manages and supervises skills and simulation staff by directing day to day program activities of staff, approving schedules, identifying priorities, setting standards for achieving goals, and regularly evaluating performance. Identifies and coordinates professional development opportunities for skills and simulation staff and faculty to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in meeting the SON's educational mission. Conducts ongoing assessment and evaluation of skills and simulation labs through the implementation of a systematic continuous improvement process. Generates related reports as needed. Develops, implements, evaluates, and oversees compliance with policies and procedures. Develops, reviews, and monitors budget and related activities for the skills and simulation labs. Coordinates and schedules skills/simulation and Inter-Professional Education (IPE) activities with all stakeholders. Collaborates with all stakeholders to create, implement, and evaluate simulation activities to meet the educational objectives of the SON. Conducts and/or delegates all aspects of simulation activities throughout the semester. Performs other related duties as assigned.
*Other Specifications:*Demonstrate involvement in professional service. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and collegiality. Previous experience working with diverse populations. Required use of technology in instruction and/or practice. Preferred mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation center. Attention and care is required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self and others. Position requires lifting of mannequins up to 75 pounds. This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
