New Brunswick, NJ – Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) is seeking a distinguished, dynamic and collaborative cardiology leader with a strong clinical and academic foundation to serve as its next Academic Chief, Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension.

As the leader of the Division, the Academic Chief will be responsible for the growth and advancement of research, faculty recruitment and development, scholarly activity and teaching excellence of the Division. The Division strives to be a nationally recognized cardiovascular program; advancing clinical, educational, research and scholarly activities with the goal of being a top tier division in all areas. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced physician leader to live and work in a very desirable, highly advanced healthcare market, and expand upon a cardiovascular program with the clinical operational support and expertise of one of the nation's leading cardiac hospitals and health systems.

The incoming Academic Chief must be passionate about building collaborative research programs of excellence, mentoring outstanding junior faculty, and continuing to advance cardiovascular medicine on the national/ international stage. There is opportunity to build clinical programs, most especially in adult congenital heart, heart failure, TAVR, and EP. While the cath labs are the busiest in the entire state of New Jersey, there is further potential to expand Interventional Cardiology to serve a regional population of more than 2.5 million. With eight labs presently, the new Academic Chief will help plan the expansion of at least one additional lab. The Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension will be supported with the funds necessary to meet a high standard of excellence in clinical care, research and education. He/she will be a leader that demonstrates the collaborative ability to work well with multiple partners and stakeholders.
