The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle is recruiting for one full-time, Cardiothoracic Surgeon faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank without tenure by reason of funding (WOT). The salary and rank are commensurate with training, qualifications, and experience, with an expected start date in early 2023.

This position will perform general cardiac surgery procedures as part of the Section of Cardiac Surgery, and will be expected to participate in heart transplantation and ventricular assist devices. The primary site of practice for this position is the University of Washington Medical Center-(UWMC) Montlake campus. Patient care may also be provided at or coordinated with Harborview Medical Center, UWMC-Northwest campus, and the Veteran’s Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System. The cardiothoracic surgeon will also be responsible for teaching and training of residents, fellows and medical students, as well as participation in quality metrics, clinical and/or basic science research. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. 

A successful candidate must hold an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified or board eligible (or foreign equivalent) by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
